Enterasys, Siemens Deliver Enterprise Communications
April 5, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Enterasys Networks Inc. (enterasys.com), a leading provider of enterprise networking solutions, and Siemens Enterprise Networks, a subsidiary of Siemens AG, announced on Thursday that they have signed a US sales, service and marketing agreement.
The agreement, say the companies, combines the technology and sales strengths of both to provide communications solutions for enterprises across the country. According to the companies, the relationship will take advantage of the competencies of each organization, to build a solution based on Enterasys’s secure LAN and WAN infrastructure solutions and Siemens’ IP convergence architecture.
The companies say their goal in forming the agreement was to further deliver a high-quality total solution for enabling advanced IP voice, video and data applications such as multimedia, streaming video, videoconferencing and others.
"As a leader in telephony and convergence applications with a tradition of leadership in enterprise markets, Siemens is in a unique position to deliver convergence solutions that provide real benefits for organizations that wish to share information among employees, customers and suppliers. When combined with Enterasys' secure, highly-available, and mobile networking infrastructure products, this total solution can yield a significant competitive advantage and value to the customer," says John Roese, chief technology officer at Enterasys Networks
Siemens will offer a range of Enterasys’s networking solutions, including its Matrix modular switches and X-Pedition multiplayer switch-routers, Aurorean Virtual Private Network, RoamAbout wireless LAN, Dragon intrusion detection systems and NetSight network management solutions. Siemens will also complete technical training and certification in order to provide support for Enterasys products.
The US contract furthers Enterasys’s existing relationship with the Siemens CN group of companies. Enterasys and Siemens ICN in Germany, part of Siemens AG, are already delivering business solutions to customers worldwide.
