Embratel Employs SonicWALL for Business Security
February 28, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Embratel (embratel.com), owner of the largest Latin American telecommunications network, and provider of the only Brazilian national fiber optics network, announced on Wednesday a new partnership with Internet security solutions provider SonicWALL Inc. (sonicwall.com), whereby Embratel will use SonicWALL technologies as the foundation for its new Business Security service, aimed at Internet users in the small- and medium-sized business market.
Embratel’s Business Security will allow subscribers to the company’s Internet Services access to a collection of SonicWALL security solutions, including stateful packet inspection firewalls and ASIC-based virtual private networking, anti-virus, content filtering and the SonicWALL Global Management System for centralized remote enforcement and managed deployment of security policies.
``SonicWALL's security technologies, including services management and provisioning features, allow Embratel customers to manage their security platforms and to implement additional services like VPN, anti-virus, content filtering and others,'' says Aloysio Xavier, general manager of the Internet Business Unit at Embratel.
SonicWALL says the main reason it was chosen as the security provider for Business Security was its Global Management System 2.1, which allows the company’s devices to be remotely managed as part of a security perimeter solution.
Embratel’s Business Security service includes 24-hour support from the most technically advanced Security Network Operations Center in Latin America, as well as other SonicWall security solutions like network and information protection, attack detection, content filtering, user authentication, email, Web, and FTP virus removal, secure VPN connections, vulnerability assessment and security policy and architecture creation.
