Edgewater Launches VoIP Edge Solution
May 14, 2003 -- (FIND VPN) -- Network appliance maker Edgewater Networks Inc. (EdgewaterNetworks.com) announced on Wednesday that it has introduced a new range of edge devices designed to reduce the cost and complexity of securing voice and video traffic.
The EdgeMarc 30, EdgeMarc 300 and EdgeMarc 300T each combine a SIP, MGCP and H.323 compatible VoIP proxy, a VoIP-aware Firewall, DHCP server, NAT and QoS functions, advanced call control and diagnostic features into an inexpensive and easily-managed service.
Designed to serve as a demarcation point between the WAN and LAN, says Edgewater, the EdgeMarc appliances resolve the NAT/Firewall traversal problems associated with deploying VoIP in the enterprise while guaranteeing the reliability and availability of interactive IP services. This allows customers to hide enterprise LAN topology by using one public IP address securely.
"We are addressing a real need in the marketplace by providing tightly integrated, affordable and easy to use platforms that enable the delivery of real-time, interactive IP services," said Dave Norman, chief executive officer of Edgewater Networks, Inc.
