CyberGuard Firewall/VPN Earns Checkmark Certification
September 20, 2002 -- Network security provider CyberGuard Corporation (CyberGuard.com) announced on Thurdsay that its entire line of security appliances has earned the Firewall Checkmark Certification from West Coast Labs.
The certification was awarded to CyberGuard for the 5.0 release of its core firewall technology, which includes an integrated virtual private network. The Firewall Checkmark, says CyberGuard, is an internationally recognized security standard, designed to provide end users with up-to-date information for use in security purchasing decisions.
"Independent evaluation eliminates unsubstantiated marketing claims by vendors and instead provides independent data that can attest to the functionality and security that products have to offer," says Andrew Clarke, vice president of worldwide marketing for CyberGuard. "This Checkmark evaluation is especially rewarding in that it replicates real-world conditions so that those who are considering a firewall purchase have a gauge of how our firewall appliances should perform in their particular environment."
The Checkmark system tests security solutions in a laboratory environment under real-world conditions, providing end-user oriented results.
