CVS Deploys AT&T VPN at 4,000 Sites
August 21, 2002 -- Communications company AT&T (ATT.com) announced on Wednesday that pharmacy CVS Corporation has begun using IP VPN Technology from AT&T to improve the disaster recovery capabilities of 4,000 CVS sites and allow the company to better serve its customers.
CVS recently signed a multi-million dollar contract to upgrade its AT&T managed network services solution with AT&T IP-Enabled Frame Relay Service to create an IP VPN. The first phase of the project, expected to be complete by November, will convert CVS’s network infrastructure to improve efficiency and security. The second phase will increase long-term capacity of the network to support future applications.
"AT&T continues to transform our communications infrastructure and help CVS further increase network efficiencies, which will improve customer service and reduce costs," says Jeff Williams, CVS vice president of data center operations. "AT&T made it easy for CVS to enhance our existing frame relay network to create an IP VPN. This will position CVS to improve customer service and pharmacist productivity, using new applications currently under development."
