CSC Selects Fiberlink for Remote Access and VPN
February 25, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Fiberlink (fiberlink.com), a provider of managed Internet-based VPN solutions, announced on Monday that Computer Sciences Corporation (csc.com), a leading IT services and consulting firm, will roll out Fiberlink’s managed remote access VPN solution to as many as 100,000 of its clients’ mobile employees.
Surging demand for secure remote access VPNs, says Fiberlink, led the Fortune 500 IT services firm to add Fiberlink’s managed remote access VPNs to its solutions portfolio.
According to the terms of the 39-month agreement, mobile clients of CSC will be able to access their own corporate networks in over 150 countries worldwide using Fiberlink’s VPN solution. In addition, says Fiberlink, the company’s integrated endpoint firewalls will give CSC’s customers protection from hacking attacks, network intrusion and other online security threats.
Chosen to provide its VPNterprise access platform for use internally and for CSC’s customer base, the Blue Bell, Pennsylvania-based Fiberlink says the deal is a significant indicator of the company’s growth. "More important than a single customer win, this agreement proves that an educated IT organization like CSC, in touch with market demands, understands the business value in Fiberlink's remote access solution. Passing that value along to its clients benefits both CSC and Fiberlink," says Lance Roncalli, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Channel Sales and Operations.
CSC intends to deploy dial-up access on the VPNterprise platform immediately, and add users over the course of the agreement. Fiberlink says the deal opens the door for CSC to offer Fiberlink’s other services, including broadband and wireless-based VPN solutions.
