Criminal Justice Information Authority Uses V-ONE VPN

April 3, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- V-ONE Corporation (v-one.com), a specialized provider of network-based security products, announced on Tuesday that the company has been selected to secure the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority InfoNet Program.

According to the company, V-ONE’s SmartGate virtual private network solution will assure secure access to InfoNet by allowing only specified information to be shared with authorized individuals.

The Authority has partnered with Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault to develop a Web-based data collection system for victim service providers in Illinois. InfoNet, says V-ONE, includes a centralized database maintained by the Authority and a private network that allows service providers to submit and request data from the system using a Web browser.

Participating service providers can access the system by downloading the V-ONE SmartPass client software, and using the online registration system. There are currently 49 domestic violence programs using the InfoNet system, and 30 programs for victims of sexual assault are set to begin using it.

The development and support of InfoNet will continue to be a collaborative effort, says V-ONE, between the Authority, coalitions and victim service providers. The program has helped to standardize victim information and created an abundant source of victim information in Illinois.

“InfoNet was developed with Victims of Crime Act funds administered by the Authority and is a model for victim service provider programs,'' said Karen Griffiths, public service administrator, Illinois Criminal Justice Authority. “The sensitive information available on InfoNet required a VPN solution that enabled users to securely traverse multiple firewalls in order to access specific applications, URLs and other resources. V-ONE provided that solution.''
