Crescent Developing Security Software
August 23, 2002 -- Crescent Communications Inc. (CresCommServices.com) announced on Thursday that it is in development of a proprietary desktop control application it will call Gateway.
Gateway, says Crescent, will secure the user’s personal computer to Crescent’s Industry Specific Virtual Private Network (ISVPN). The Gateway application will allow the user greater operational control, efficiency and productivity, and will adhere to ISO 9002 standards.
The company says it believes that Gateway will represent the next generation of portals for the PC, and enable enterprises to coordinate Internet access for their users.
Crescent says Gateway will allow administrators to create a customized Internet experience for each user in Web browsing, email, file downloads and newsgroup activities. Gateway will allow administrators to grant or deny access on a user-by-user basis.
"Adding Gateway to our product offerings will enable Crescent to provide users with a unique end-to-end secure telecommunications infrastructure solution that starts from their desktop," says Manfred Sternberg, CEO. "This is in line with our development of specific services for targeted industries, which will provide them with a secure channel of Internet communication, free from risk of interception or unauthorized transmission. We expect to release the Gateway software in the first quarter of 2003."
