CoSine Enables IP Services for China Netcom
September 23, 2002 -- IP service delivery platform provider CoSine Communicaitons Inc. (CoSineCom.com) said on Monday that service provider China Netcom has deployed CoSine’s IPSX 3500 with advanced IP Service Generator technology to support the rollout of its IP service offering.
The agreement, says CoSine, will enable China Netcom to deliver network-based IP services over its MPLS-enabled backbone, including managed firewall, IP VPN, secure remote access and virtual routing.
"China Netcom's strategy is an innovative example of how service providers with MPLS backbones can use CoSine's equipment to extend their market reach and simultaneously lower their operating costs," says Steve Goggiano, CoSine's president and CEO. "CoSine's IPSX platform is the only technology on the market today that combines Layer 2 and Layer 3 MPLS VPN functionality with IPSec VPN functionality and acts as a services gateway for each. This flexibility to use any access technology is crucial to successful mass deployment of network-based IP services."
Using the CoSine IPSX’s distributed architecture to provide processing resources, China Netcom’s MPLS VPNs, IPSec VPNS, virtual routing and managed firewall are delivered at wire-speed.
