CoSine Introduces Wireless VPNs, DSL Aggregation

May 13, 2003 -- (FIND VPN) -- Managed IP service delivery platform provider CoSine Communications (CoSineCom.com) said on Monday that it has introduced the latest version of its IP Service Generator technology, the IPSG+.

CoSine says the IPSG+ provides all the functionality of the IPSG while boosting performance and subscriber capacity. The introduction of the IPSG+, says CoSine, allows service providers to offer wireless VPNs and DSL network aggregation (DNA).

The IPSG+ is a dual-slot line card that operates in CoSine's IPSX 3500 and 9500 IP Service Switch chassis. The company says carriers can use the new solution to offer a broad set of managed, network-based services from a single device. Besides the wireless VPNs and DNA services, the IPSG+ allows carriers to offer both MPLS and IPSec VPNs, managed firewall, managed routing, DoSShield denial of service mitigation and network address translation (NAT).

"Although the DSL and wireless markets have grown rapidly over the last few years, service providers have been challenged to realize profitability because of cost and deployment issues," said Steve Goggiano, CoSine's president and CEO. "With the introduction of the IPSG+, incumbent service providers have the first solution that cuts the cost of DSL aggregation in half while enabling a whole new class of business services -- like wireless VPNs -- in one scalable solution. This enables enterprises to leverage Wi-Fi and broadband technology to improve employee productivity while reducing IT capital and operational expenses."
