CoSine to Enable New Equant VPN Feature
April 21, 2003 -- (FIND VPN) -- IP service delivery platform developer CoSine Communications Inc. (CoSine.com) announced on Monday that data network and IP integration service provider Equant has expanded its use of CoSine's IPSX 3500 with the advanced IP Service Generator (IPSG) technology to support Equant's network-based Internet gateway.
The new Equant offering, says CoSine, provides an alternative to customer-based Internet gateway solutions, as enterprise users are able to eliminate the need for firewalls and other security infrastructure on customer premise equipment. Equant security experts monitor and manage CoSine's network-based firewall technology, delivering real-time performance reports to customers. The network-based Internet gateway option is currently available in 110 countries, according to Equant.
CoSine says the Equant service is available in two variations, Premium and Basic Outbound. Premium is designed for larger sites with strict security requirements for both inbound and outbound Internet traffic. Basic Outbound is designed for smaller sites that only require Internet access by users within the VPN.
"Equant's expanded use of the IPSX 3500 is a perfect example of how CoSine is able to grow its relationship with its carrier customers by providing additional value as they expand their service offerings," says Steve Goggiano, CoSine's president and CEO. "As more carriers follow in the footsteps of industry leaders like Equant, we expect demand for our unique combination of service functionality, scalability and performance to grow in kind."
