Comstor, Polycom Announce VoIP Distribution Deal
July 11, 2002 -- Networking technology products channel distributor Comstor Inc. (Comstor.com) announced this week that it has signed an international distribution agreement with communication solutions developer Polycom Inc. (Polycom.com).
According to the agreement, Comstor will offer Polycon’s IP telephony solutions, specifically the standards-based SoundPoint IP 500CS desktop phone, which, says Comstor, is interoperable with Cisco CallManager and the SoundStation IP 3000, an NBX conference phone from 3Com.
The agreement expands on an existing deal with Comstor’s parent company Westcon Group, which currently distributes Polycom’s voice and video communications products with its line of connectivity solutions.
The SoundPoint IP 500CS, says Comstor, is an IP desktop phone that meets Cisco AVVID program requirements for interoperability.
"Our philosophy has always been to build solutions that are tailored to customers," says Carol Rivetti, general manager of Comstor U.S. "The addition of Polycom to our portfolio gives us the opportunity to offer robust convergence products that can either complement a legacy network or be part of a new solution. The strength and flexibility of Polycom's product line gives us an advantage in addressing customers' changing technological needs."
