Clarent Forms Latin American Distributor Agreement
July 26, 2002 -- IP softswitch and enterprise convergence solution provider, Clarent Corporation (Clarent.com) announced on Friday that it has finalized a strategic distributor agreement with Brazilian enterprise and carrier telecom equipment manufacturer Monytel (Monytel.com.br).
The partnership, says Clarent, allows the company to strengthen its Latin American presence while offering Brazilian companies the advantages of Clarent’s enterprise solutions.
"During our evaluation of potential partners, we quickly identified Clarent as our top choice," says Emmanuel Nascimento, vice president, Monytel. "In addition to already having a strong reputation in the Brazilian market, Clarent's NetPerformer and SkyPerformer products complement our existing line of circuit-switched PBX systems perfectly. Because Clarent equipment has been designed from the ground up to transmit voice traffic, we find Clarent products technically superior to devices from other vendors."
According to the terms of the agreement, says Clarent, Monytel will use its support infrastructure and experienced Portuguese-speaking technical staff to provide 24 x 7 Level 1 and Level 2 support, on-site resources and training instructors.
Monytel’s extensive distribution network and familiarity with local market requirements, says Clarent, mean a significant advantage in the large and diverse country of Brazil.
