Check Point Software Secures Web Services
August 27, 2002 -- Internet security company Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (CheckPoint.com) announced on Tuesday that it has enhanced its Internet security solution with Application Intelligence Technology to provide support for the XML and SOAP protocols commonly used in Web services.
Check Point says the advance makes the company the first to provide complete security for XML and SOAP. Check Point says its solution ensures the integrity of Web services communications, allowing organizations to share information between business applications without compromising their networks.
"While highly efficient, Web services also introduces security risk due to the fact that they were designed to pass through standard perimeter firewalls unexamined, potentially hiding malicious threats," said Carol Stone, vice president of marketing, Check Point Software Technologies. "Today, Check Point extends its market-leading security technology to protect XML and SOAP transactions, enabling businesses to reap the significant benefits associated with Web services."
Along with the Application Intelligence Technology, the Web services implementation will gain all of Check Point’s security protection, including stateful inspection of Web services traffic from the network layer to the application layer; centralized management with SmartCenter; authentication, authorization and secure sign-on; prioritization of Web services traffic using Check Point’s FloodGate-1 Quality of Service solution.
