Check Point Announces New VPN-1 Version
May 21, 2003 -- (FIND VPN) -- Internet security company Check Point Software Technologies (CheckPoint.com) announced on Monday that it has enhanced its VPN-1 SecureClient virtual private network client with two new access modes, including Hub Mode and Visitor Mode.
The new access options, says Check Point, enable centralized inspection of remote traffic, client-to-client communication and advanced remote access connectivity allowing employees to connect from anywhere.
Check point says Hub Mode allows administrators to route all remote access communication through a central gateway for inspection and auditing; enables cost-savings by eliminating the need for deploying functions like URL filtering and anti-virus to multiple locations; and allows remote users to employ client-to-client communications like Microsoft NetMeeting and VoIP applications by securing sessions between remote users as well as between remote users and the corporate LAN.
Visitor Mode enables connectivity from any location, regardless of the configuration of firewall, NAT devices or proxy servers and is important for companies with staff working at client locations.
"The ability to communicate remotely is essential in today's dynamic business environment, but it must be done without compromising security," said Carol Stone, vice president of marketing at Check Point. "Using VPN-1 SecureClient in Hub Mode ensures that even Internet and client-to-client communication are subject to the same strict security measures as internal network traffic."
