Check Point Appliances Take High-End Firewall/VPN Lead

March 20, 2003 -- (FIND VPN) -- Internet security solutions developer Check Point Software Technologies (CheckPoint.com) announced on Thursday that fourth-quarter 2002 results from research organization Infonetics show "Secured by Check Point" firewall and VPN appliances from a variety of vendors have overtaken Cisco for the lead position in the worldwide firewall and VPN high-end appliance market.

The Infonetics report, "Quarterly Worldwide VPN and Firewall Products Market Share and Forecasts," says the combined revenue percentage of "Secured by Check Point" appliances made up for 32 percent of the market, more than any other vendor.

"Secured by Check Point" appliances, says Check Point, come with Check Point VPN-1 and FireWall-1 pre-installed, tested and configured to provide secure and easy-to-deploy solutions. VPN-1/FireWall-1 is the cornerstone of Check Point's Internet security solutions.

Most notable among the several products from leading vendors that contributed to the position, says Check Point, were the Nokia IP650, IP710 and IP740, along with the Nortel Networks Alteon Switched Firewall ASF 5710, 5610, 5408 and 5308, all of which incorporate the Check Point software.

"The largest companies in the world put their trust in Check Point's market-leading security," said Carol Stone, vice president of marketing, Check Point Software Technologies. "And as these report findings clearly show, high-end customers continue to prefer "Secured by Check Point" appliances for protecting their businesses."
