Check Point VPN-1/FireWall-1 Becomes SunTone Certified

February 21, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Check Point Software Technologies (checkpoint.com), a world leader in Internet security, announced on Tuesday that its market-leading VPN-1/FireWall-1 Internet security software has received certification from Sun Microsystems Inc. (sun.com), under the SunTone Certification and Branding Program for Applications.

The SunTone program, led by Sun, is a collaborative industry effort to develop a certification defining best practices and audit the infrastructure of solution providers, as well as their practices, hardware, software and overall delivery.

According to Check Point, the seal of approval is an added assurance for its customers that the VPN-1/FireWall-1 product meets the strictest standards of scalability, availability, reliability and performance, all essential factors in the secure deployment of Web-based services.

The VPN-1/FireWall-1 product is the cornerstone of Check Point’s suite of Internet Security solutions, which includes a set of products and technologies for remote access, site-to-site and extranet VPNs. According to Check Point, the company is the confirmed market leader in both the VPN and firewall markets.

"By achieving SunTone certification for Check Point's VPN-1/FireWall-1, Check Point has passed a rigorous review process to meet industry-based high standards for excellence in infrastructure, availability and uptime," said Stans Kleijnen, vice president of market development and SunTone certification for applications at Sun Microsystems, Inc. "Customers can be confident that Check Point VPN-1/FireWall-1 is built and managed according to industry best practices and high quality standards established by the SunTone program."

The certification, says Check Point, extends the company’s relationship with Sun, already a major deployment platform for Check Point’s solutions. Check Point’s solutions, says the company, are sold, integrated and serviced by a network of 2,000 certified partners in 203 countries.
