Cable & Wireless Launches IP-VPN QoS Solution
July 16, 2002 -- Telecommunications provider Cable & Wireless (CW.com) announced on Monday that it has released Cable & Wireless IP-VPN QoS, the company’s new network-based MPLS IP-VPN solution designed to provide large corporations with flexibility, performance, scalability and quality of service as they move toward a converged data, IP and voice communications network infrastructure.
Available in 65 countries worldwide, says C&W, the service is designed to provide a wide area network solution for connecting partners and customers at fixed and remote locations for Internet, intranet, extranet and e-business applications.
Delivered over a private Cable & Wireless MPLS-enabled IP network, Cable & Wireless IP-VPN QoS can be used to integrated traffic from existing legacy voice and data networks as companies make the transition to a single IP communications infrastructure.
The new service, says C&W, is an integral part of the company’s IP Convergence solutions, which offer fully-managed LAN and WAN solutions for data, video and voice communications.
"Cable & Wireless is committed to delivering global solutions that enable enterprises to move to a converged IP-based network infrastructure immediately or at their own pace," says Ivor Kendall, vice president of IP Convergence at Cable & Wireless. "Cable & Wireless IP-VPN QoS offers the industry's most flexible and robust global IP-VPN solution, capable of managing mission-critical applications in an all IP-based environment for remote access, intranets, extranets and Internet access while accommodating requirements for interoperability with existing legacy networks."
