Bluesocket, SpectraLink Address VoIP Interoperability
December 9, 2002 -- Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) solutions developer Bluesocket (Bluesocket.com) announced this week that it has formed a technology and marketing partnership with workplace wireless telephone system manufacturer SpectraLink Corporation (Spectralink.com).
Made at the 802.11 Planet Conference, the announcement includes technology and vendor interoperability solutions for Voice over IP used in 802.11-based WLAN environment.
Voice over IP, says Bluesocket, is becoming increasingly popular as enterprises see reduced operating costs from transferring inter-company voice traffic to corporate data networks, and enhanced productivity from converging voice/data networks and messaging systems.
Bluesocket says wireless deployments among enterprises, public safety agencies, educational and health care institutions, and travel hubs like airports and hotels are being driven by the potential of mobile communications via VoIP in Pocket PC 2002 systems and other PDAs.
