BGI Picks NetScreen to Secure Network Connections

August 15, 2002 -- Internet security technology provider NetScreen Technologies Inc. (NetScreen.com) announced on Tuesday that asset management company Barclays Global Investors (BGI) has chosen and deployed NetScreen’s integrated security products as the basis of its corporate VPN.

BGI uses a high-performance Internet Protocol-based network to tie together its global finance community. Netscreen says its solution replaced the company’s frame-relay network and legacy dial-up VPN solution, helping to reduce BGI’s networking costs.

"It's crucial that our offices around the world are able to communicate quickly, efficiently and with complete security," says Marty L. Quintanilla, regional platform manager of network services for BGI. "We found few security products with the speed, flexibility and performance offered by NetScreen, and the breadth of product line allowed us to install end-to-end NetScreen solutions in a variety of unique installations."

NetScreen says it has been making strides with its financial services customers by providing networking solutions to meet their individual needs.

"We gave Barclays Global Investors a solution that allowed them to replace their legacy networking infrastructure with an IP VPN, and thereby reduce their costs and improve security," says David Flynn, vice president of marketing for NetScreen Technologies.

BGI has deployed NetScreen-100, -25 and -10 security appliances at its offices worldwide to protect sensitive data and to maintain the integrity of the network, without sacrificing network performance.
