Aventail CTO to Discuss SSL VPNs at Conference
July 12, 2002 -- Secure anywhere access provider Aventail Corporation (Aventail.com) announced on Friday that its chief technology officer, Chris Hopen, has been chosen to give a discussion on SSL VPNs at the Burton Group Catalyst Conference.
The presentation will be on July 15, 2002 at 4:35 p.m. at the Hilton San Francisco.
An expert on SSL VPNs, says Aventail, Hopen will discuss the reasons organizations are looking toward a new class of products and services in order to address the growing complexities of remote access and extranet VPNs. The session will involve a technical explanation of the differences between SSL VPNs and IPSec VPNs, and the pros and cons of each.
Concluding the presentation, Hopen will discuss the appropriate use cases for SSL VPNs based on Aventails experience delivering products and services.
According to Aventail, the SSL protocol, used to secure the e-commerce world, is emerging as a contender in the remote access and extranet VPN space. Enterprises are paying attention to the clientless access, granular access controls and ease of management associated with SSL VPNs.
Infonetics Research predicts that sales of SSL VPN products will reach $871 million by 2005.
