Aventail Extends VPN Support to PDAs

April 8, 2003 -- (FIND VPN) -- SSL VPN developer Aventail (Aventail.com) announced on Monday that it has extended its SSL VPN solution to support full anywhere, anytime application access for PDAs supported by PocketPC.

Organizations, says Aventail, can use the company's SSL VPN to authenticate, authorize and encrypt access across any application or device supported by PocketPC, including the full functions of Microsoft Pocket Outlook and Exchange. The solution, says Aventail, offers remote access for PDA users in a format as simple and secure as a traditional Windows laptop connection.

Because Aventail's SSL VPN is network independent, says the company, PocketPC users can operate business applications through any wireless connection, including mobile and cellular connections or wireless LANs.

"Allowing IT departments to treat PDAs just like they would a corporate desktop is a huge win for IT and for the entire remote access market," said Evan Kaplan, president and CEO of Aventail. "By mixing the significant benefits of PocketPC with SSL VPN technology, end users get the mobility they need and IT gets to manage an already in place security infrastructure.
