Avaya Delivers VoIP for OmniAmerican Credit Union
July 18, 2002 -- Voice and data network and application provider Avaya Inc. (Avaya.com) announced on Thursday that financial institution OmniAmerican Credit Union has upgraded its voice and data communications using new converged networking solutions from Avaya.
The new network, completed in June, says Avaya, allows OmniAmerican’s Fort Worth, Texas headquarters to communication with its 13 offices as though they were a single location, broadening functionality across all the sites while lowering connectivity costs by as much as 70 percent in each office.
"We've had standalone systems in our offices until now. The integration of our offices on a unified Avaya IP telephony network allows our members to directly connect with the employee that can satisfy their needs on the first call," said Jim Evans, OmniAmerican's Vice President of Information Technology. "This system also gives us the capability of deploying advanced contact center applications from a central location that are integrated throughout the organization."
In order to migrate cost-effectively to convergence while retaining and expanding the features of its existing system, says Avaya, OmniAmerican upgraded the Avaya DEFINITY servers in its two largest locations with IP-capable software, replace standalone systems in its large offices with Avaya IP600 Communication Servers and in its mid-sized offices with Avaya R300 Remote Office Communicators. The company’s wide area network was fortified with Avaya Cajun data switches, allowing employees in some small offices to simply use IP telephones connected to the company’s WAN.
