AppGate Introduces PowerBox VPN Appliance
March 13, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- AppGate (appgate.com), a provider of advanced VPN solutions, announced on Wednesday the launch of PowerBox, the company’s new plug-and-play VPN solution.
The AppGate PowerBox, says the company, requires a minimum of configuration and no software installation. The device comes pre-installed and pre-configured with AppGate’s own VPN software, reducing the time and cost of deployment.
According to AppGate, the appliance represents the company’s latest effort to alleviate the complex security implementations and costly technological processes that affect enterprises of all sizes.
The PowerBox is designed to simplify the integration of VPN technology into any existing network. Its proprietary architecture makes the solution suitable for small, medium or large organizations, scaling from a handful of users to thousands or more, depending on the hardware configuration.
The device’s user-friendly graphical administration and management interface, says the company, allows administrators quickly customize the PowerBox to suit their environment. And in the event of improper configuration, says AppGate, the PowerBox introduces a simple “undo” feature that administrators can use to quickly reset the appliance.
A JAVA-based solution, the AppGate PowerBox client runs on a variety of operating systems including most Windows systems, all common Unix/Linux clients and MacOS 7 or higher. The device, says AppGate, also includes a powerful update facility designed to speed system software updates and deployments.
According to AppGate, the PowerBox appliance is user-friendly enough to ease the implementation process for the first-time VPN customer, but powerful enough to provide effective protection to sophisticated enterprise networks.
