RSA 2002 Conference Spotlights Cybercrime

February 18, 2002 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- The RSA 2002 conference (rsaconference.com), billed as the world’s largest e-security conference kicked off Monday, February 18, at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose California. Running through to Friday, February 22, the conference will place a special emphasis on cyber-crime, and will showcase the launch of several new VPN products.

The conference, partly fueled by the heightened sense of security awareness present in the wake of the September 11 bombings launched with a keynote speech by Richard Clarke, presidential advisor on Cyberspace Security.

Many companies are unveiling a number of new security products, including hardware, software and services, based around managed security services, infrastructure security and a number of auditing and monitoring services. Included among the new products are several new VPN solutions.

Security firm Symantec (symantec.com) will unveil its integrated appliance, the Gateway Security system, which will be available in three different models. The device bundles firewall, anti-virus, intrusion detection and VPN capabilities, and Symantec says it is designed to deliver multi-tiered protection to defend the network perimeter against a number of malicious code and intrusion attacks. Packaged in the new device, Symantec will include Enterprise Firewall 7.0, Carrier Scan Server 2.2 for AV and an integrated IPSec-compliant VPN based on Symantec Enterprise VPN 7.0.

Also unveiling a new VPN product at the conference is information security solution provider CyberGuard Corporation (cyberguard.com). The company will introduce its new KS premium firewall/VPN appliance, designed to deliver multi-level security, high performance and functionality. According to CyberGuard, the products makes implementation and administration simple and straightforward. Designed for high-volume needs, KS lets users managed hundreds of firewalls and VPNs through an award-winning user interface.

With over 200 exhibitors, and over 10,000 attendees, the RSA 2002 conference will feature more than 200 individual breakout sessions on topics ranging from the latest in enterprise security to the most current implementations of secure electronic commerce.

The RSA 2002 conference also has events scheduled this year in both Paris and Japan.
