Equant Migrates Zumtobel's Global Network in Four Weeks

July 31, 2002 -- IP and data service provider Equant (Equant.com) announced on Wednesday that it has recently signed a three-year IP VPN contract with international lighting company Zumtobel.

According to the contract, says Equant, the company migrated Zumtobel to its Equant IP VPN in four weeks, with minimum interruption to performance. The company says the requirements stemmed from the bankruptcy of KPNQwest, which previously carried Zumtobels network traffic.

Equant says its MPLS-based IP VPN service provides Zumtobel the flexibility it needs for future network expansion of the network, as well as delivering significant advantages in cost and performance.

"The reliability of our network is critical to our business," said Bernd Steidl, corporate director, Information Technology Infrastructure Services at Zumtobel. "We support our customers with short delivery times anywhere in Europe - in many cases even within 24 hours. Key processes such as ordering new lighting products and fulfilling existing orders are only possible through the network. Equant was able to respond to our request to migrate all our sites, with minimal disruption. Equant's global reach was critical because we have sites across the world that need to have access to the network."
